Default Couple Idea's for the Friends List and Guild Roster.

I was looking at the Friends List and Guild List screen's last night and had a couple Idea's to possibly make them better.

1. People on your friends list and members of your guild would change color if they were in the same district as you. Or on the friends list add another subset that shows friends in your district similar to how the "Recent Party Members" works.

2. Add a "Travel To User" button next to the persons name. Only works if you have the campaign/outpost unlocked. If the person you are trying to travel to is in a mission or explorable area, a message appears "Cannot travel to the requested Location" or something of that nature. If the outpost/campaign hasnt been unlocked a message appears "You have not unlocked that area yet" or something of that nature.

I think these option's would greatly improve the ability to find friends/guild mates and reduce a little bit of lag caused by the current method of mapping/jumping from town to town (Server to Server) trying to get to the location where your party is if you own more than 1 campaign. The only downside I can see is that the friends/guild screen would have to update each time you enter an outpost/district to see if anyone on the guild roster or friends list is in the district you are in. It could cause a little more stress on the server hardware and lag while in outposts. I double it would because GW already search's out and adds the gold coloring to Guild mates and Alliance members to the guild tag's. If anyone wants to expand on this idea please feel free to post.

Just Food For Thought.

Too many variables, and its not needed. If you want to find a person, ask them. Guild Chat and Whispers are easily usable. If I am a player on the American Server, but playing in the Internation Districts, and inside a Factions mission, how much stress does that put on the server to be able to tell my guildmate who is on European Servers and in Lion's Arch (International District) that I am not there? With 3 continents (Tyria, Cantha, Elona), UW, FoW, and Battle Isles, multiple servers (American, European, Japanese, Korean, etc.), multiple districts (1-8 for Lions Arch usually, plus International), and Guild Halls, there is too much info for the sever to sort through.

The guild tag color is an easy feature to use, as it just checks your guild/alliance and allows display changes based on matching players.

People who are being abusive to others will use this to stalk them. If I want to pester you because you kicked me from your team, I just add you to my Friends list. Now I can find you or even map to your location with ease. If you are actually a friend, and I just want to come meet you for adventuring together, how hard is it for me to whisper you and ask where you are, and what you are doing?

Couple things you are forgetting.

1. If I added you to my ignore list, you would never know im online. It's one of the great features of Guildwars. User on YOUR ignore list cant see when you are online regardless of your status. It was done this way to prevent "Abuse and Stalking"

2. The ability to tell if a guildy is in the same district as you wouldn't be difficult. The game already parse's whether or not a guildy is in the same dist as you with the guild tags colored gold. It's a partial or full server side parse already otherwise similarly tagged guilds would display in gold also. For friends list parsing, there might be a server and bandwidth overhead cost, but it's just and idea.

3. The travel to option could potentially save on server overhead and bandwidth. Instead of warping from 1 dist to the next and 1 server to the next trying to reach the destination. A simple 1 click goto could save on resources.

While I agree these are "Luxury Features." There are a lot of luxury features in GW already. I have a unique perspective on GW as I only have 1 hand and these features would help me and other with disabilities to play the game. Don't get me wrong, GW is designed to make the gameplay very very easy to play for people with disabilities. But I am doing my best to balance my idea's so that they aren't 1 sided for people like me to gain an advantage. I feel they would benefit everyone.
